Maybe Someday Became Forever After

4 years ago today Mike took me to a Duke football game, I paid more attention to Mike than the game.
After the game ended, we snuck into one of the box seats to watch the fireworks show. Leaning my head on his shoulder for a moment I wondered where this was going. Afterwards, he took me on a walk through Duke Gardens, led me to a gazebo (where he'd propose a little over a year later) and told me how he felt about me. We had met just a couple months prior at a Bible study. He thought I was the kind of woman he'd like to marry and he wanted to see if we could have that future together.
As he drove me home All I Ever Wanted by Chuck Wicks played on the radio, "...maybe someday/if love comes our way/we'll be walking in the meadow in the early spring/you'll be twirling in a sundress wearing my ring..." Mike turned to me and commented, "maybe someday that'll be us". I just hoped.

Images from that first year we dated and fell madly, stupidly, head over heels, completely blind-sided in love...
Stealing a kiss.

White Iris Ball, when he came to pick me up for dinner and the ball he brought me a bouquet of white irises (which I've learned years later are actually very hard to find in October)

Sizzlin' September Concert in the amphitheater @ Meredith with my sweet friend, Hannah.

As his wedding date.

He took me golfing for the first time. We may or may not have used our golf carts to play golf cart polo as there was no one else on the course.

Halloween, Mike wanted to be something with an easy costume. I suggested Brad Paisley & Kimberly Williams Paisley as couple costumes are always cute. The Austrian man had to borrow the whole costume, naturally my beloved European had no western hat, jacket, or boots.

Meredith Angel & Duke Blue Devil. Irony? Or maybe he just really needed me (though I tend to think it's the reverse).

First Thanksgiving, he knew the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was big deal for me. He surprised me promptly at 9am in his pajamas with my favorite Starbucks drink in hand.

First Christmas season, he took me to Chicago to meet his Grandma & Grandpa Schneider. We also began to learn that what he calls snow I call a full blown blizzard. And what I call snow he calls a flurry.

Despise airports. Love Mike.

Sweet young love.

Mike joined my family on their annual beach vacation.

Easter picnic in Duke Gardens. And by then we knew...our "maybe someday" would turn into Forever After.

"I am my beloved's and he is mine."
