First Vacation with Baby Part I

Every summer since we got married Mike and I have gone to Bald Head Island. We're lucky to have the opportunity to stay there because Mike's boss graciously lets us use their family vacation home. It's always a week we cherish. There's nothing like the unplugged feeling Bald Head offers- we never get on our phone (I don't even turn mine on all week), there's no internet to check e-mails, no cars just golf carts, and just a handful of little boutiques and restaurants. I love it!

Last year was our babymoon- our last vacation of true relaxation because this year was a little different. We had baby. There was no time spent reading on the beach or sleeping in. In fact it was the opposite- we spent more of our time exploring the island and not much on the beach. Our little critter decided 5 AM was an acceptable time for waking up. I didn't spend any time fussing with my DSLR to take pretty beach pictures- it was just quick snapshots with the point and shoot (because this baby sure is a moving target- whew!) We were tired by the end with Caroline's 5 AM wake-up calls and all the exploring we did to keep her entertained. But it was worth it! We made some great memories. I hope we'll have the opportunity to take her back again next year.

Here are a few memories...

We did lots of beach walks instead of lounging on the beach because it provided more entertainment for Caroline. She's already an excitement junky at the ripe age of 9 months- whoa!

We did an early dawn walk every morning (because by then we'd been up over an hour, ha!)

And even walked all the way out to the point of the island one morning. It was beautiful and no one else was in sight.

We took Caroline swimming at the Shaol's Club which she LOVED! We were disappointed we only got one day in because it was raining and cold our last day. But we had one good day at least!

We also enjoyed a yummy lunch poolside, my favorite part! The food was incredibly delicious.

I've never had such a delicious veggie wrap. And Caroline enjoyed her first time sitting in a restaurant high chair.

She even tasted her first dill pickle and savored every bite. This girl likes her some strong flavors!

I'll finish up our sweet family time with a part 2 post later...

I am a professional writer with experience in travel, career development, and personal empowerment. I studied creative writing and history at a sunny little liberal arts college in Florida and I’m always on the lookout to learn more about the past of places I visit. From an early age, travel has been an important part of my life, and I make it a point to leave my home base outside Tampa at least once a year for a big adventure …

Well, I like travelling so I always prefer to visit new places during vacations. Last year, one of my friends helped booking a 12 seater minibus hire UK online, so it was a fanatic experience to travel through the various cities with family and close friends.

Lovely pics!
I live in Portugal, and I love everything about Albufeira, as I have spent many years in Old Town. Since, I decided to take my family for a road trip on weekend, I considered it necessary to find a Albufeira rent a car and complete booking on time. It helped keeping my promise and see happiness on the faces of my kids.
